Conference calls

Postby GodCountry » Fri Feb 19, 2010 11:11 am

i believe that it needs to be a web streaming option for all the conference calls so man and woman do not need to pay for long distance call just to participate. With web streaming you can listen to the call and only dial in when you need to make a coment and then hang up, that way you ojnly pay for minutes of the call and not the long 90 or 120 minutes. . Also if the delegates calls is transfered to a NON STREAMING no one will be able to listen and will be a great disconet for the rest of the assembly

I think the delegates forgot that they are not the only ones with interest in the call...

I believe that Talkshoe is the best option. I asked the question, and got some good feedback - including videos! - on this other thread.

Using talkshoe would allow anyone with internet to listen to streaming audio, AND call in for free using the x-lite "softphone" application (see the video - I set it up and tried it. It is awesome!)

And there is a chat room. as well as all calls are archived right on the talkshoe call page so you won't have to go hunting for them on various websites. And talkshoe will provide much publicity because the call would be listed on their main page which gets tens-of-thousands of hits per day.

And Talkshoe is free, with a capacity of over 300, and possibility for even more.

Another option if they go to freeconferencepro, is to have someone setup a talkshoe account, and bridge the delegate call over to the talkshoe call, then the people could log in to talkshoe to get the streaming audio.

I found it interesting that the "discussion" regarding conference call service never even acknowledged that talkshoe exists... I can understand that perhaps it might not have met whatever criteria they had (which, in reality, talkshoe seems to surpass all the other options considered by a long way), but to not even mention it really bugs me. I sent out a lengthy analysis of talkshoe to several delegates, and they didn't even mention it. Am I missing something? I sent a follow-up inquiry on this to Carolyn, the scribe. Surprise! No response.
